Frank Gehry Carpet Colletion In Radio Palace
Starting from Friday you can get to know the Ferreira de Sá’s Frank Gehry Collection
The Frank Gehry Carpet Collection, a collection of rugs idealized by the famous architect Frank Gehry, will be in exhibition in Radio Palace starting from 31st of March, next Friday. This emblematic building, where Portuguese radio was born, is located in the historical neighborhood of Lapa and will receive this tapestry display until the 30th of June. Starting from April 19th other exhibitions will be inaugurated inside Radio Palace.
You can enjoy Frank Gehry's magnificent work, with free admission, from 12:00 to 20:00, Monday to Saturday in Radio Palace, located in Rua do Quelhas, Lisbon. Simultaneously, in the beautiful green room of the palace a presentation of the Radio Palace project will take place. Beside the palace recovery the project also includes two new buildings with modern and luxurious apartments.
Frank Gehry's Collection is composed of five tapestries of vibrant colors, produced by the most talented and qualified artisans of Ferreira de Sá. These art pieces, in line with the architect's remaining works, challenge the conventions, mixing forms and logics with organic motifs.
With more than 70 years of experience in the production of original rugs manufactured with the technique of "Hand-Tufting", Ferreira de Sá also dominates the art of "Hand-Knotting" (Portuguese manual knot). As a result, all the five drawings of this collection are produced using both techniques.
The brand Ferreira de Sá manufactures custom-made luxury rugs since 1946. It started as a small family company located in Espinho and today it is a large-scaled organization. In spite of the innovation, the essence of the brand stays without neglecting the origins and the tradition in the art of weaving. All the rugs of Ferreira de Sá are done by measure, being unique and customized. The company is sought by customers all around the world, from luxury hotels like Swiss Hotel, in Russia, to French griffe Dior.
